FAQ - Looking after your artwork

  • How do I hang up my piece?

All pieces come ready to hang with a hook on the back of the artwork.

For resin artwork I would recommend hanging it using a nail in the wall as the resin tends to make the pieces heavy.

For acrylic artwork on canvas, you can use the stick-on hooks. Command hooks are usually great but just make sure you get the correct size or to be safe, get the larger hooks.

  • How do I clean my artwork?

For both acrylic and resin artwork, a simple micro-fibre cloth and a bit of water will do wonders to remove any dust or marks from the artwork.

When using the cloth, make sure to just lightly press on the artwork as extra weight can result in scratches or dents.

If in doubt, please get in touch and we can support.

  • Is there wear and tear with artwork?

Naturally over time the artwork might wear slightly but it shouldn’t be drastic.

To maintain the quality of your artwork, keep it out of direct sunlight and this affects the pigments of the acrylic paint. The same goes for resin, if kept in direct sunlight it can cause slight yellowing.

Try to avoid hanging it near places with direct heat for example avoid spaces like above a radiator or fireplace as this can cause the acrylic paint or resin to dry out and crack. For canvases, also avoid spaces where there is moisture as this can cause mould to grow (it is cotton so treat it how you would treat your clothes).

  • Are the resin bottles dangerous to hang?

Although I try to ensure all sharp edges on the artwork are filed down to avoid injury, I will always advise to handle it with caution as it is glass.

Please ensure to hang the artwork responsibly. Hang in spaces out of reach for children and avoid spaces for example above the sofa or bed when people are likely to sit or stand under it and space that it can be displaced.

Please note Farai Studio is not responsible for any injuries caused when hanging artwork or when it is hung up.

  • Do you varnish all artwork?

All acrylic artwork is finished with either matte or high gloss varnish to provide extra protection which also brightens up the colours.

Resin is naturally protective as it can be used to seal artworks so I usually just brush it down and wipe it with alcohol spirit to remove any unwanted marks.

  • I have scratches on my artwork

As with all custom pieces, they will come with their quirks and dents as it made by a human (me).

As resin for example is a sensitive material once it is dry, it can scratch easily. Please be reassured that I do take extra measures to ensure that these are kept to a minimum and are barely visible.

If however you spot scratches you are not happy with, please do get in touch as we can help with apply an extra layer which fixes the problem.
